Professional Employment| Gradaute Assistant, BIS department, Central Michigan University | | As a graduate assistant with the Business Information Systems (BIS) department, my responsibilities included teaching a lab covering the MS Office 2002 Suite, focusing on Access and Excel. The lab was the practical part of an introductory course covering business and computers. I was responsible for lecturing, grading assignments, and holding office hours for students who had questions. I was also the coordinator of the graduate assistants.
As the coordinator I was responsible for designing assignment and exams, as well as communicating to the three other graduate assistants appropriate methods of teaching each concept. I was the liaison between the faculty and the graduate assistants.
The good part about teaching the lab was it was not simply a brief tutorial of Access and Excel. We tried to push database and spreadsheet concepts so each student recognizes when to use either of the two as well as how to use both. | | | | Autonomix, Inc. | | I worked for Autonomix as a development intern during the summer of 2003. Autonomix is based on Bainbridge Island, Washington, a 35 minute ferry ride from Seattle. My main task was to assist in the development of ClubHub, The Online Communication Portal for Service Clubs www.clubhub.net.
As I became familiar with the system, my development responsibilities grew as well. I developed event/calendar functionality for members to schedule, view, and edit events; single photo and photo gallery display and edit functionality; and link display and edit functionality. All my development work was done in ASP.NET. I also wrote the documentation for the administrative interface.
