Happy Birthday --

12/29/2011. I have been remiss as of late on wishing happy birthdays through the internet. I have resorted to calling people and posting on their facebook wall. Today though, is a special enough birthday that it warrants a news item. Today is Cindy's birthday. You may remember Cindy from previous news items taking an Alaskan cruise. I would post her phone number so anyone inclined can deliver personal birthday messages, but I have counseled Dad on posting such things, and I don't want to be a hypocrite.
Post a comment wishing Cindy, or my cousin Donna, whose birthday was Tuesday, a happy birthday.

12/24/2011. Christmas Eve we went to Kate's granpdarents' house for two parties. As the father of two small children, I am always nervous in large gatherings, wondering how my kids will behave and hoping their will be no meltdowns. Needless to say, both kids did really well; Leah even took a nap with Aunt Mary. Christmas Day we will exchange gifts in the morning and then head to Mt. Pleasant to spend time with mom and Aunt Amy and family. I hope everyone's Christmas is going as well as ours.
In back news, it's getting better. I still don't have the range of motion I'd like when bending at the waist, but I walked two miles and did calisthenics afterward, so I think the Tough Mudder is still a go.
In work news, I had my evaluation on Thursday, right after lunch. I was told things I did well and things I need to improve. I told my bosses how they can help me be my best Richard Riddle. Overall it was good and we will meet again after the new year to discuss how I can expand my role in the company.
Post a comment wishing me a Merry Christmas, or just enjoy my wish of a Merry Christmas for you and your family.
Anniversary --

12/18/2011. Today Kate and I have been married 6 years; I know because I was there. To celebrate, we drove to Mt. Pleasant for Christmas with my mom and aunts and their families. I replaced some lights at Amy's house and we had a good time exchanging gifts. I actually missed the gift exchange because I was napping with the girl, but I heard it was good.
We drove back from Mt Pleasant in the evening which made for a really long day. The worst part is that since David napped the whole way home, he won't be ready for bed for a while. I'm sorry to report I don't have any new pictures of the kids, my phone has a horrible camera and our real camera is too fancy for me.
In other news, my back is feeling better. The Tough Mudder is a 12 mile long obstacle course in the Ohio countryside, including climbing over walls, fording ponds, and general extreme activity. The event isn't until April, so I have time to get prepared if I push myself.

On Saturday, I was training for the Tough Mudder and I hurt my back. We were jumping on and off a wall and I guess six jumps was one too many. After getting a ride back to my car and then having Kate help me in the house after a brief rest in the driveway, I relaxed on Saturday. Sunday night I finally went to the doctor. I know that Mondays are usually busier for most folks so I thought getting in Sunday night would be easier all around. The doc said I have muscle strain, and maybe some disc slippage. He gave me drugs and some exercises and sent me on my way. Now comes the hard part, knowing how hard to push myself so I can heal and get stronger without reinjuring myself. If anyone has any tips on that, the comment function works well.
In other news, David and Leah are both doing well. Leah is on to solid foods and really enjoys eating and gets quite upset if the flow of food stops once it's begun. David is going to day care two days a week so he can learn to play with other kids and that is working out very well. Post a comment about the above topics or a different topic of your choosing.
